Wind

This photograph is one of two I created for a client who manufactures pumps and compressors. Not the most interesting of products you may think, but we’ve all filled out tyres or taken a shower sometime, so I guess everyone at some stage has benefited by them. The brief was simply to have some creative photography on the walls of their new offices.

Now this is a good client. In the past I’ve undertaken product photography for exhibition panels, brochures and the internet, but this time I wanted to be different. I came up with a concept of knowing what their business was all about, without seeing their products. So I used the two basic elements air and water to set my mind thinking. I had been impressed years ago by David Hockney’s work with photography and digital seemed to be the right tool for the job.

Two months later I had the end results taken from over a thousand photographs. This one’s recently been blown up for a 2m x 3.8m exhibition display and been acquired by their head office in Germany.
