Message in a fire

Message in a fire

I was asked to shoot this digital photograph by an advertising agency for their client, a door manufacturer in Sheffield. The fire behind the message is for real, taken at a fire station where the control of a petrol fire was in progress. I shot all of the other elements of bits of paper burning, ashes etc. and adding about thirty of these parts together in Photoshop to come up with this digital photograph. The message itself was also set alight. I used about eight sheets of A4 printed messages before being happy with this result.
In the end it wasn't even used because it was seen as being too realistic and might have scared off potential customers.
