Thyme

These are some of the finished food photographs taken for a recipe book entitled "Thyme after Thyme" for the Restaurant and Cafe of the same name in Sheffield. All in all, about six weeks were spent at the restaurant shooting the dishes and another four weeks spent selecting and enhancing, where required, the photographs. Finally forty three recipes were finally chosen to appear in the book. It was published in 2005.
The image of the Scallops cooking in a pan was actually a combination of two images. One was taken with flash to illustrate the scallops cooking and another was taken as a time exposure to show the flames. As these were both taken from the same viewpoint within a matter of seconds of each other not much changed in the two photographs. This was an easy retouch of both images combined into one. In effect the finished photograph appears just as the eye would have seen the scallops being cooked.
